Prayer That the Mentally Ill May Find the Will to Live

Lord, nowadays we hear so much about failed suicide attempts and about suicides; I pray to You for the sick, that You awaken in them a spark of the desire to live, so that, because of their problems and the way they feel, they may never dare to take their own lives. And if for a long time they feel emptiness and discouragement, show them that You are with them, so that they may believe they have someone to live for. For You are the giver of life, and the final decision about when to call a person to eternal life should belong to You.

Jesus Christ, help those who most need Your help, so that, trusting in Your power, they may entrust their lives to You, even lives that are most complicated and uncertain. Amen.
