Saint John Paul II's Prayer for the Reconciliation of Enemies

O God, Creator of the world, who surround every creature with Your fatherly care and guide the course of history so that it may reach its goal – salvation – we see Your fatherly love when You soften the hardness of human hearts and open to reconciliation a world torn apart by conflict and strife.

Renew for us the wonders of Your mercy: send forth Your Spirit to work in the depths of our hearts, so that enemies may become ready for dialogue, adversaries may shake hands and people may live in harmony. Help us to devote ourselves to the sincere pursuit of true peace, which puts an end to quarrels; of love, which overcomes hatred; of forgiveness, which disarms all revenge.
