Act of Consecration of the Family to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
Glory to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus for the infinite mercy He has shown to the happy servants of this home, choosing them from among thousands of others as an inheritance of love and a sanctuary of reparation, where amends are made to Him for the ingratitude of men.
How deeply we feel our unworthiness of the honor You do us in wishing to reign over our family. How it adores You in silence and rejoices that You wish to share with us, under one roof, the labors, cares and consolations of Your children. We are indeed not worthy that You should come under this poor roof, but You have spoken a word in which the beauty of Your Heart was revealed, and our souls, thirsting for You, have found in the wound of Your side, O good Jesus, living waters springing up to eternal life. And so, contrite and trusting, we come to give ourselves to You, who are life unshakable. Stay with us, O Most Sacred Heart, for we feel an irresistible longing to love You and to stir up others in Your love. You, who are the burning bush that is to set the world on fire in order to sanctify it.
May this home be for You a refuge as dear as Bethany, where You may rest among loving souls who have chosen the better part in the intimate love of Your Heart. May it be for You a poor but hospitable shelter, as in Egypt, during Your earthly exile. Come, Lord Jesus, come, for here, as at Nazareth, we love with heartfelt love the Most Holy Virgin, Your sweet Mother, whom You gave to us. Come and fill with Your sweet presence the emptiness that misfortune and death have left among us.
O most faithful Friend, had You been here in the hours of sorrow and mourning, our tears would have been less bitter and we would have found a healing balm for our hidden wounds, which You alone know. Come, for our strength is failing, and the day of youth and illusions is drawing to its close. Stay with us, for it is already late, and we want to belong to You alone, for You alone are the Way, the Truth and the Life. May we hear the words You once spoke to Zacchaeus: “Today I must stay at your house.”
Yes, Lord, make Your dwelling here, so that we may live in Your love and in Your company, we who choose You as our King, for we want no one but You. Amen.
