Prayer for a Happy Death

O merciful Jesus, stretched out on the cross, remember us at the hour of our death! O most merciful Heart of Jesus, opened up by the lance, hide me in death's last hour! O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of unfathomed mercy for me at the hour of my death! O dying Jesus, hostage of mercy, assuage God's anger at the hour of my death. (Diary 813)

O my Jesus, may the last days of my exile be fully in accord with Your most holy will. I unite my suffering, my bitter experiences, and my dying itself with Your Holy Passion, and I offer it up for the whole world, to beg for an abundance of Your mercy upon souls, and especially for the souls in our houses. I trust steadfastly in Your holy will and submit to it completely, for it is mercy itself. Your mercy will be my all at the last hour. (Diary 1574)
