Father Piotr Skarga's Prayer for the Homeland

O God, Ruler and Lord of the nations, do not let us slip from Your hand and Your discipline,

and through the intercession of the Most Holy Virgin, our Queen, bless our homeland,so that, ever faithful to You, she may bring glory to Your Nameand lead her sons to happiness.Almighty, eternal God,

pour out upon us a broad and deep love for our brothers and for our dearest Mother, our homeland,

so that, forgetting our own advantage, we may serve her and Your peoplehonestly.Send down the Holy Spirit upon Your servants who govern our country,

so that, according to Your will, they may guide the people entrusted to them wisely and justly.

Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
